February is Pet Dental Health Month!
The American Veterinary Dental Society estimates that 80% of dogs and 70% of cats show signs of oral and dental disease by age 3. In fact, periodontal disease is the most common clinical condition occurring in adult dogs and cats, and is entirely preventable. Studies indicate that periodontal disease left untreated can cut an average of two years off a pet's life. This is mainly because periodontal disease is a systemic disease that leads to or contributes to a number of other health related problems.
